Our curriculum:
Supervised
free play: planned to challenge each area of the Foundation Stage
of the British National Curriculum. This includes: building;
threading; imagination play; puzzles; water; sand; role play;
cutting/pasting; games; sorting; matching; sequencing; books.
Circle
time: where discussions take place, interaction with peers and the teachers are facilitated,
Letterland characters are introduced, songs are learnt and
stories enjoyed.
Mandarin:
through songs, visual aids and using a theme approach, our students
have an interactive introduction to this important language of
the future.
Outdoor
Play: in one of our two innovative and safe playgrounds, our students are able to
experience activities that will develop their body movements
and confidence.
Art & Craft: we provide activities and opportunities for students to develop their imagination
and to experiment and create through mediums such as paint, collage,
sand, junk modeling, playdough, clay, corn starch and a host of wonderful
"messy" activities.
Cooking:
our students all participate in cooking lessons, from chopping
to spreading, baking and tasting. This is an excellent introduction
to the maths and science concepts needed for future life skills.
Music: "Music
is the food of life." Our students are exposed not only to singing, but are introduced to musical
instruments along with concepts such as rhythm, beat, fast,
slow, loud, quiet, movement and time.
Field
trips: we believe that students need to be exposed to as many facets of learning as
possible; therefore, whenever possible - and to compliment
our themes - we arrange field trips for our students (Monday
– Friday).
Snack
time: this is an important area in a child's social development; our students are
encouraged to make choices and participate independently.
Environmental
awareness: in our child-friendly garden, our students are introduced to the concept of
caring for the environment by taking responsibility for plants
and looking after their needs.
